My coffee with Koffee with Karan(1)

Some facts first.
1. I am not a die-hard Karan Johar fan.
2. I like people with threaded and tweaked eyebrows.
3. Phoebe Buffay is the woman of my dreams.

So, what do you do on a Sunday evening, when you have had enough of movies, dining out sessions and the very sight of a mobile phone, reminds you of a girlfriend who is constantly haranguing you about the anniversary details of her beloved aunt?

My pick-the TV remote. And when all you get to see is a couple of scheming and plotting women, with layers of pancake make-up,in bungalows fit enough to be a football stadium, lets face it- a glossy set, with a metropolitan look and comfortable couch with mugs of steaming coffee, having bimbettes as guests does make you want to thank God for making Karan Johar, the voluble, effervescent and not the least effusive , quintessential metrosexual with coiffured hair.

Now, I do judge a book by it's cover but not to offend the age-old perceptions, I did watch an episode and this is what I did-laugh, giggle, snigger, scoff and (my favourite) said "Tsk! Tsk!". Trust me, going by the current trend of TV serials , one doesn't get to do this very often.

The show begins with a racy background music, as if enticing you with what's in store followed by Karan desperately trying to make Prince charming like expressions only making me wonder at the flexibility of the flab on his face. The lights were turned on and there he was, looking dapper, articulate and aware of the power he exerts on the careers of stars, ever desperate for a hit movie.

So, what's in store for the average Joe, who doesn't care a rat's ass about a star's(the guests are not celebrated as actors) recent hit or his affair with the starlet, half his age? Plenty, if you ask me.

Now, when was the last time you watched an enjoyable and warm chit-chat session, replete with the oh-so-necessary bantering and good natured bullying,on TV? Not that I am a social outcast who looks for such stuff "to fill the void in my own life", tsk! tsk!, but there are times, when the sight of a Kanjevaram clad women with a 2 feet long Mangalsutra makes you wince! This is where Koffee with Karan scores. It's breezy, fresh and like treating yourself to a chilled Bacardi, at the end of a day.

man.......u sweep the floor beneath my feet!!!!! why dont u pick up journalism as ur career? u write pretty well. u can become a columnist!!! seriously....
think about it

oh and yes i do agree that koffee with karan is a breeze of fresh air in a suffocating environment created by the overcrowding of the K-serials. In fact one gets to learn a lot out of the lives of the celebs. Ahem- ahem, not just about their personal engagements.... but also a lot about the world and the artist's view of the world. Film makers see the world with different colored glasses, and then take us to an enticing journey to see what they have seen. Life can be "black" or there can be "taare zameen par"........

what made these people see the world in such a splash of colours... and how did the actors slip into the roles of the colorful characters.... and why did the cinematographers tan the colours of the movie??

all this and much more is revealed in shows like Koffee With Karan......

flabbergasting!!!!!!
